Salem AL Moubarak, Kuwait

This project presents an opportunity to study and develop an environmental strategy for an existing urban context in Kuwait City.

The first phase of the project consists of analyzing local climatic characteristics, thermal comfort zones, pre-existing building structures and pedestrian movement.

Our aim is to improve the quality of the external space by reducing reliance on vehicular traffic and enhancing pedestrian movement. This is achieved through the introduction of a light transport system based on a layout that complies with transit-oriented development, and by providing climatically-modified external areas.

The study also proposes urban design strategies whereby the form and layout of new buildings responds to the sun and wind movement particular to this site.
