Khassab masterplan, Oman

in collaboration with SOSH architects
Our scope for this project consisted in the preparation of the environmental analysis of the site.
The report is divided into two parts, whereby sun, wind, water and earth are studied in order to benefit from renewable energy resources.
The first part addresses the environmental parameters at the scale of the site, and defines how considering these issues would provide enhanced comfort to the outdoors environment.
The second part elaborates on passive and active strategies that benefit from renewable energy resources, in order to reduce operational energy in buildings. The adoption of climate-responsive architectural strategies such as shading, natural ventilation, daylight, active solar systems and choice of materials, will significantly improve the overall sensation of human comfort while reducing the use of fossil fuels and, in turn, CO2 emission.
